Eleanor Roosevelt, former First Lady, started the parade. Mrs. Roosevelt spoke to a primarily student audience in the Carnegie Lecture Hall. Following in the footsteps of the gracious Mrs. Roosevelt were ex-Presidcnt Harry S. Truman, complete with his repertoire of “give ’em hell” speeches.
