fxf ful' IIEUIII TEH ..... w uliome right on inn were the friendly words that greeted us, when as Fresh- men we stood on the door marked Anne B. Speirs, Assistant to the Dean of XXIOIIICII. From that moment of our Freshman Interview with Miss Speirs, we knew that we had a real friend in 114 Bennett Hall., one who was interested in us not only as a class, but as individuals. In our infant days at the University it was to her that we came when we needed advice in planning teas, lnncheons, and other class functions, and how many times have we listened to her famous lecture on the manner and procedure of drawing money from the class treasurylll In our Sophomore year she counseled us on such matters as class blazers, Pirates Ball, and Soph Supper. As Juniors we passed to another advisor, but by that time we needed no official claim to stop in to see her when our numerous weighty problems needed solutions. Now, as we leave the University, we carry with us many memories of Miss Speirs-clutching a freshman list in her hand, laughingly accepting at Under- grad Camp the title of the walking dictionary, and sitting up a night at Freshman Camp, because upper classmen had accidentally mislayed her bedding. In appreciation of her guidance, understanding, and unselfish service to ns in our years at Pennsylvania, we dedicate this yearbook to Anne B. Speirs. IIIILPHI The chimes of Irvine clearly resound across the Pennsylvania Campus above the din of city traffic and hum of construction work. Professors step up on the lecture platforms, students remove the caps from their fountain pens, and late comers hurriedly dis- appear into the ivy covered buildings. And so the day begins and passes, and the week, and the month. The academic year comes to an end, leaving behind the memories of classes, friends, and extra-curricular activities, touched by uncertainty, as the United Nations seeks to meet the challenge of aggressive countries. Looking hack, however, we sense more than just a year of Il1CII10I'lCSQ to each of us it has been a wonderful experience, meaningful and integrated.
