Every alumnus is annually requested to contribute S55 toward the expense of this united service, which is only measured by the number of loyal men who respond. The work of the General Alumni Board is carried on by standing committees as follows: One for each department, constituting a Board of Visitors by statute of the Trustees, an Executive Committee, a Committee on Property and Endowments, a Committee of the University Fund, a Committee on Finance, a Committee on the Midwinter Gathering, a Committee on Alumni Day, a Committee on Advertising, a Committee on Membership, a Committee on Schoolboys, the Editors and Associate Editors of The General Magazine and Historical Chronicle and The Pennsylvania Gazette. The General Alumni Board nominates for every vacancy upon the Board of Trustees of the University and conducts the ensuing election through a mail ballot to all graduates of three years' standing. W The alumni elected Henry N. Woolman to be their President last November upon the resignation of Dr. J. Norman Henry, who had served for hve years with great distinction and had been elected Trustee by the alumni. Mr. Woolman,s offer of a large tract of land at Valley Forge for the purpose of the removal of some of the undergraduates to' that American shrine has been the project most before the alumni during the past year. We have a committee of twenty-nine very capable and distinguished alumni working on a plan to bring this about. The National Conference of the Associated Clubs in Indianapolis last October was a notable event. Secretary of the Interior Hubert Work, '85, was elected President and the next Conference is to be held in Washington, D. C., November 7 and 8, 1927. The Society has chosen Robert Ai. Eichelberger, '26, Field Secretary, and will resume with vigor its work among Local Alumni Societies, which was interrupted by the campaign of the University of Pennsylvania Fund. Pennsylvania men everywhere have now an added duty to perfect their organizations in order that the Fund may have effective instru- ments to work with. f--. - 4- ,-M-.v,.+f-- f .. .W , -- Q, 1 ,. , hr -aw TA. . -, 4 X V.-f .., -,- ., A ,rg-:iz .s',.1...v' . wr--, X , 3 , . .,,,j,..-f,.a1f4 A ki .
