V i Although it can scarcely be said that Logan Hall has been neglected in the building plans Qfor the days were few in the last four years when scaffolding was not touch- 1514 ing some wall of the old Wharton Schoolb, still the com- bining of Logan Hall with Hare Laboratory, which was A completed in the early fall of 1926, was perhaps the most ,L notable improvement. In this connection, perhaps, V 'W mention might be given to the new Alumni Hall, de- E l scribed by Dean Johnson as the fulhlment of a long- Lil cherished dream. Located in 210 Logan Hall, it will be A' lil a convenient place for such events as informal receptions, y , faculty teas, Alumni Society and Beta Gamma Sigma , f, , , same of Edgar Fabs smith - my '1,..,, meetings and the like. About the end of the year 1926, or the beginning of 1927, the University pro- foil? P. vided a new home for the Moore School of Electrical Engineering. The previous summer, title had been obtained to the building which stands at the southwest corner of 33d and Walnut streets. This structure was then completely remodeled 'A and is now said to be one of the best equipped schools of its kind in America. ' Since its creation, in 1923, the Moore School of Electrical Engineering had, prior l to December, 1926, been housed in the Engineering Building. if, So much for what has been completed in the last four years. But there still exist several important evidences of present progress in the form of the new Audi- torium which is being erected on the corner of 34th and Spruce streets and the gy new Christian Association building, the site for which is at 36th and Locust streets. if-l The former will see completion some time during the 1927-1928 school session, or at least will be far enough along to give the Class of 1928. the honor of being the first to be graduated from within its walls. The latter, .jf commonly known as Memorial iflfj, Hall, or The Heart of the Cam- pus, -is expected to be ready for lm., use about the same time, although fly! as yet work has barely got under way on it. Even beyond this concrete pres- ent-day progress, however, lie Thirty-fourth and Woodland many and intricate plans for the riff? X --al 22 If:-A

And the Medical Committee has not been v . sitting idle, for more than 351,100,000 of this already has ,b ix been contingently pledged. N is-Q The construction of a boulevard on the west bank of T . l A the Schuylkill and the eventual widening of 33d Street if. . will vastly improve the approaches of the campus, and it it hoped that before so very long a way will be found to ' ,Q J remove the elevated freight line which divides the River .5 Athletic Fields from the Museum and Franklin Field. r 'e ' .lust such plans as these show how Pennsylvania, ever li unsatished with present achievements, continues to reach . out further and further, limited only in its efforts by the i . i t i element of time. l r . . 1 fi During the short time that the present graduate has Lenmg gs . made the campus his home, one change after another has been brought about until . ' . in outward appearance these grounds are as an aged oak covered with a new foliage. 2, Figuratively speaking, the campus has grown from a small sprout, shooting up T9 - Q and spreading out with the sands of time and being strengthened in its growth ' fit by the very atmosphere about it, but it is ever the same, unfaltering in its purpose. ,YQ A And each Pennsylvanian, whether of generations past, present, or future, will ..' ' ' hold it dear to his heart. When in years to come graduates have spread far and wide over the earth, :ig 'V when new hopes and aspirations in a different world distract from their recol- .iv .ii lection of bygone days, and when familiar faces of college classmates are long i 'jx forgotten, then. may the graduate turn to ' .p the pictures of his campus and call back to ,X if i memory the halls and walks of his Alma if gf, Mater and these, in turn, will open the door 11,5 .
