Ms ' h One of the first structures to see Q-Liu completion in these last few years ffl was Bennett Hall which houses the School of Education. Situated on the corner of 34th and Walnut streets, it holds forth as a challenge to those who seek higher education. ln the spring of 1925 the Ath- Houston Hall letic Association set out on one of the bigger undertakings, namely, the double- decking of the Franklin Field stands With the growing of the undergraduate body, with the increasing numbers of alumni, and with fthe boosted interest taken in Pennsylvania's football games, it was felt that greater accommodations should be provided. Accordingly, the seating capacity of the stadium was enhanced, raising the figure from fifty-five to eighty-Hve thousand. . The early spring of the following year saw the ground broken in Big Quad in preparation for the erection of two new Freshman dormitories, and when the fall session of school opened, six months later, many of the newcomers started their University careers in these new quarters, Ashhurst and Magee. This addition of two buildings was just another step in the manyfold plan of enlarging the dormi- tory system. I The most recent improvement in the campus building plan was brought to the front last New Yearfs Day when, with Pennsylvania's victory over Yale in her first 5 League game of the season, the new Palestra was formally opened. This spacious structure, with its ten-thousand capacity, will more adequately and more nobly serve the Alma Mater in the years to come, than could its predecessor, Weightman Hall, which, being much smaller, was somewhat handicapped in its efforts. The accommodations afforded by the new Palestra will, however, provide for more than a mere basketball floor and stands for on- lookers.
