When a multitude ot techniques are interiected into a class attended by inexperienced students, only contusion and mis- interpretation can result. Atter the completion ot basic education and a teeling ot surety has been acquired it is to be encouraged that advance instruction be sought in subjects ot particular interest to the dentist. Several types ot postgraduate instruction are available: l. An extended course lone or more yearsl in a specialized branch ot dentistry which will satisty qualitication tor a Specialty Board or will lead to an advanced academic degree. A 2. A course extending over a tew weelrs which will provide experience in one or several departments ot special interest. 3. Short retresher-type courses ot several days duration which consist ot intensive training in one tield or endeavor.
