Greeks say ‘We are one’ With a theme of Greeks — We Are One the Greek Community at Oklahoma University sponsored its Greek Week with a new look this year. Instead of the traditional Greek games sponsored as competition between the various houses, the emphasis centered around the Special Olympics for Retarded Children, sponsored by the Joseph P. Kennedy Foundation. The Olympics, which hosted between 300 and 400 children throughout central Oklahoma, were designed to give mentally retarded children athletic training and a feeling of belonging by offering them involvement in competition. The annual Greek Week Banquet rounded out the activities featuring John Putman. National President of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity as guest speaker. The Greek Week program, with this year's innovations, was designed to provide community interaction as well as to give members an opportunity to express their pride and cohesiveness in the Greek system.
