What is Panhellenic? Quite objectively, it is an organization, composed of the President and the Panhellenic representatives from each sorority house on campus, which promotes strong relations not only among the members, but also among others on campus. Yet. more importantly, there is the humanist aspect which Panhellenic seeks. This year. OU's Panhellenic was proud to host the high officers and delegates of sororities in the National Panhellenic Conference at a reception prior to their meeting held at the Oklahoma Center for Continuing Education. Panhellenic also continued its strong support in such worthwhile functions as Greek Work Day. Greek Review. Greek Week. Special Olympics and Greek Camp. (Upper i«!t) Just clowning around. Jr. Panhell unites pledges Junior Panhellenic is the governing and coordinating board for the pledge classes of OU'S thirteen sororities. Each house is represented by one representative and the pledge class president. The council plans activities as well as money-making and service projects designed to unite the various pledge classes. A new get-acquamted program was instituted at the beginning of this year with fraternity and sorority pledge classes meeting at the fraternity intramural football games. To make money, corsages were sold on Valentines Oay — for a small fee. a pledge would sing a special message to the buyer's valentine. The money made from these projects was used to cover expenses for the service projects. At the end of the year the remainder of the money was donated to Greek Camp. The major project of the year was Greek Work Day. On November 18 Junior Panhellenic and the Interfraternity Pledge Council combined their talents and their 600 pledges to serve the community. The members of all the pledge classes were divided among many projects. When all the work was done, everyone gathered at a party to relax and share experiences. All proceeds from Greek Work Day were given to charity. Junior Panh«u ruc. First Row: Eleanor Nichey. Susan Garctson. Connie Ham-ernik. Lovanne Dinger.
