Twenty Year f Progress ln a short twenty year span, the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation has progressed from a dream shared by a handful of Oklahoma professional and businessmen to an energetic, imagin- ative organization staffed by dedicated men and women earnest- ly seeking new knowledge in medicine for the relief of suffering. Supported by the time, talent and treasure of the citizens of Oklahoma and a full share of research grants earned in competi- tion with other centers, the Foundation program includes studies in cancer, heart disease, an area defined as neuro-sciences, and biochemistry. October 3, 1947 Russell Borgman then chairman of the State Board of Affairs, is at the microphone in this photo, taken 120 years ago. The Foundation staff numbers 300, including more than 30 senior staff men and women holding an M.D. or Ph.D. The Foundation has a total budget for the current fiscal year of S2,ll5,000. Of this sum, about one-half will be provided by the generous donations of the Oklahoma people. Robert Norclquist, electron microscopist, concentrates on virus study.
