THE JUNIUR Cl SS Although the title clinical clerk seemed somewhat belittling when we began our clinical years, we soon realized that there is more to the practice of medicine than a unique vocabulary with which to mystify our friends and make ourselves unpopular at scrabble. We wrote merrily along from service to service re- copying the red book or a reasonable facsimile until we found that we no longer felt uncomfortable when the patient knew more about his present illness than merely his chief complaint. The complete histories of dozens of individuals passed under our pens and, we hope, not into oblivion. If we learned nothing else, we at least know how to give directions in University hospital. Perhaps the most important thingwe learned was proper doc- tor-patient relationship. Somewhere between the cock-sure know-it-all and the fumbling novice lies the golden mean which we all hope to become. Left to right: P. E. Green. presidentg F. B. Groves, vice-presidentg C. A.
