Dr. Taylor has in three years as associate dean established an enviable record as a mediator. counselor, adminis- trator, and personal friend to all connected with the medical school. Dr. Taylor who received his M.A. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Texas. is the chairman of the Department of Physiology. S. N. STONE, M.D. Associate Dean in Charge of Clinical Instruction Dr. Stone received his M.D. from the University of Pennsylvania, and a M.S. from the Minnesota gradu- ate School of Medicine. Before assuming the duties of associate dean, he more than amply proved his capa- bilities in the positions ol clinical assistant and in- structor in surgery. His presence is a great credit to the school, and his infiuence will be long felt in his clinical classes. ROBERT C. Lows, M.D. Medical Director of the University Hospitals After graduation from the Minnesota School of Med- icine, Dr. Lowe had wide experience in private prac- tice and teaching before coming to this institution in l9-16. In l9-49, he became medical director of Univer- sity Hospitals, and has fulfilled this position with much ability and understanding. He is renowned as a clini- cian, educator and administrator. JAMES W. H. SMITH, M.D. Associate Dean of Graduate Studies and Research Actively interested in research as well as teaching. Dr. Smith. associate professor and vice-chairman of the Department of Physiology, has ably served the past two years as associate dean of graduate studies and research. THE FACULTY On these pages are pictured the men and women who have devoted their time to the pres- ervation of their knowledge and experience through the education of young men and women in the medical arts and sciences. On their shoulders rests the task of coordinating and inte- grating instruction in the many sub-specialities of modern medicine. In addition to their teaching, many devote their energies to research on medical and related prob- lems contributing new information to the annals of medicine. All of these doctors give unsellishly of their time and effort in instructing the medical students in the wards and in the clinics. These individuals are responsible for the high standards of medical education 'to which the University of Oklahoma School of Medicine adheres. Below and on the next page are the chairmen of their respective departments. Most of the pre- clinical and clinical members of the faculty are pictured on the following three pages, and on the fourth is a list of those doctors not present when the pictures were taken.
