UNIVERSITY BUARD 0F REGE TS By constitutional amendment, the government of the University of Oklahoma is vested in the Regents of the University of Oklahoma, a board consisting of seven members appointed by the Governor of Oklahoma with the advice and consent of the State Senate. Officers of the Board of Regents for the current year were George Short, Oklahoma City, President, Dave Morgan, Blackwell, Vice-President, and Emil Kraettli. Secretary of the University and Secretary of the Re- gents. The term of each Regent is seven years. The board elects its own president and other officers and holds regular monthly meetings. The Regents enact the rules for the government of the University and all of its branches. They deter- mine and approve the requisite number of professors, ofiicers and employees and fix the salary and term of office of each, as well as determining the moral and educational qualifications of applicants for admission. The Regents hire the President of the University and QU1N'r1N LITTLE, Ardmore W. D. Gmsso, Oklahoma City lolz W. MCBRIDE, Anadarko EMIL R. KRAE'1'rLI, Norman GEORGE F. SHORT, Oklahoma City 1 l DAVE MORGAN, Blackwell must approve all actions of the University. They may also prescribe the rules and regulations for the man- agement of the libraries, museums, laboratories, build- ings and other properties of the University. State law prescribes that the Regents shall prevent any sectarian or partisan test for the appointment of professors or other officers of the University and shall not allow either sectarianism in religion or partisan- ship in politics to ever be a part of the instruction of the University of Oklahoma. During the past year, the Regents have done much in accomplishment and planning for the University of tomorrow. They authorized the purchase of Parkview apartments, 244-apartment housing unit for married students, and have purchased pieces of land to accom- modate future growth. Since the first Board of Regents was established in 1890 under an act of the Territory of Oklahoma, the University has been very fortunate in having devoted and conscientious men and women serve on the Board. Much of the Universityis startling growth, both physically and academically, can be traced to the vi- sion of the Regents. No idle board of figureheads, each Regents works hard at his job, without salary, and each through the years has done much for the University which he has served so unselfishly. T. R. BENEDUM, Norman R. L. Fosran, Bartlesville
