BATTALIO On 29 September the Battal- ion held its annual Battalion Mass. The Battalion had an excellent turnout with over 200 midshipmen in attendance and was followed with a great steak and egg break- fast in the Dining Hall. MSGR Sampson celebrated the mass and was his usual spectacular self. An all volunteer group of Midshipmen provid- ed the music for the mass. MSGR Sampson delivers the homily along with some sea stories, MIDN 31C Timothy Phillips receives communion from MSGR Sampson.

For the upperclassmen it was a good re- view of techniques which they learned in the previous years and for the freshmen it provided valuable training which may help save someone's life some- day. During the two-part Race for Life program taught by the South Bend Chapter of the Red Cross, the midshipmen learned one-rescuer CPR techniques and also learned the methods in which to help someone who is choking. 4 X4 191. ,A . Midshipmen broke into groups of three to practice their CPR techniques. MIDN 1!C Pat Burns sure looks like he's having fun learning how to save a choking victim.
