CRUI E Midshipmen must prepare for their future Naval career in many ways during their time at Notre Dame. In addition to time spent during the school year they are required to spend ap- proximately one month in the fleet each summer. Although this time at sea is filled with a lot of work it also gives the mid- shipmen a chance for some fun and exciting liberty in the U.S. and in many exotic places around the world, such as Japan, Korea, Spain, Italy, and Austra- lia. gps'-1' X A temple near the city of Pusan, South Korea. CAPT Rohrbough scrutinizes the new group of Midshipmen. The class of 1989 entered the unit this year and as usual they were welcomed into the unit with Freshmen Orientation. The week provides the incoming freshmen with a chance to learn some initial military discipline along with the opportunity to begin their Naval career by fil- ling out all the necessary paper- work. The whole week creates a spirit of camaraderie among the freshmen and also provides them with an excellent manner in which to begin their college career. 17
