Many students, however, forgo the trip home and choose an alter- nate plan for their week off; it is one that will greatly impact the lives of many people. Through the University ' s Appalachia Pro- gram, students get the chance to meet new people and fomi strong friendships with them, while helping those who lack the resources to help themselves. Once a school day has ended and homework has been finished or ignored, there are numerous opportunities waiting.
