SPORTS OF ND ' LEGACY CONTINUES The Notre Dame sporting tradition reaches back through the decades. Each year new faces don Irish uni- forms and go out on the field of battle to fight for the Blue and Gold. The names are always changing, but the philosophy remains the same. On a team, everyone is a contributor, and the victories are sweeter bec ause the athletes join together to overcome any odds. And the student body is also part of the tradition. Vocal fan support is an important part of ND sports heri- tage. With chants of We are ND! at a packed pep rally, Notre Dame students show their Irish spirit. GROUPS OF Nl PART OF Notre Dame has much more to offer than just an academic education. In fact, some would say that more is learned outside of the classroom than within. When the labs are done and the papers are written, some students may choose to catch a power nap. Most, however, are more likely to be heading off to the band room, the office, or the gym. Whether it ' s a musical, one of the student-run businesses, or an NVA club, everyone seems to find a way to get involved. Traditionally, Notre Dame has provided its students with a strong and diverse extracurricu- lar base. Different clubs focus on different aspects of the students; all of them offer the opportunity to learn.
