officers of administration Many of the officers of the administration carry out their duties unnoticed by the average student. There are, however, prominent exceptions, as even a cursory examination will reveal. From this we may conclude that those in direct contact with the student affect his life profoundly, whereas those not in direct contact seemingly have no effect upon him. However, it is not just in relation to the student that these men derive their efficacy. It is inevitable in the structure of present day universities that the duties of those in charge transcend the immediate concern of the stu- dent. It is inevitable because it simply is not possible to have a university without the organizational ap- paratus necessary to supply the needs of the students of which the students themselves are not fully aware. These, then, are the true dynamic centers of a func- tional university life of a life that goes beyond the university in order that the university might live and breathe and function. REV. LOUIS S.
