R: .hanfS»inihfield Dlicctor of Planning Jpd RetiC) [Mv ag yncrtt John Conners joined UNI after serv- ing at Western Illinois since 1975. In this position he is responsible for the general management of administrative areas within the division. He is in charge of all services provided to students and faculty on the campus. Mr. Conner believes that a university atmosphere is unique and believes that it is typical and human nature to some- times talk more about the negative things around campus, than it is to rec- ognize positive things. There's a lot of positive things to talk about at UNI, Conners added. UNI may be one of the greatest untold stories in the state. Richard Stinchfield is the new Director of Planning and policy Management for the Select Com- mittee on University Planning, a job created by President Constan- tine Curris. I am of a like mind with the President in wanting to develop UNI into one of the three great uni- versities in Iowa, says Stinchfield. Stinchfield's appointment by the Board of Regents took effect Octo- ber 3, 1983. He has been meeting with every department head ana dean on campus learning about the strengths and weaknesses of each department and its faculty. Stinch- field believes it is important that everyone on campus has a chance to say what they tnink. He believes they feel more ownership in a plan if they have helped to build it, indi- cating he is impressed by the way people are anxious to get about the business of becoming one of the three great universities in Iowa. Vice President and Provost appreciates the time and effort faculty have taken in the past year to 11.000 students registered in their particular classes.
