I College Of Humanities And Fine Arts Offering professional prep- aration in the Arts and the Hu- manities, as weH as general education in the liberal arts to students of every major, the College of Humanities and Fine Arts includes the following academic departments: Art. Communicative Disorders. English Language and Litera- ture. Modern Languages, the School of Music, Communica- tion and Theatre Arts, and Phi- losophy and Religion Continuing its exploration of ways of cooperating with the School of Business, the College offers a five-year Joint program that gives students the oppor- tunity to take an undergrad- uate major in the Sberal arts to- gether with a Master of Busi- ness Administration in the fifth year. The College is also actively pursing ways to relate its In- struction and research to the new computer technology. A number of terminals and print- ers have been added In var- ious departments. For exam- ple. applications are being made to word-processing, in- struction in music, and the ana- lysis and synthesis of speech sounds. A t the graduate level, anew proposal is going forward for the offering of a masters de- gree in oral and written trans- lation from the Department of Modem Languages. While the College retains Its basic mission to offer profes- sional majors at both the un- dergraduate and graduate levels, as well as courses that contribute to the general edu- cation of the majors of ail the other Colleges, they will con- tinue to add new emphases that aid students in their ad- justment to a society in which technical and vocational di- rections are increasingly impor- tant.
