Last season's squad which won its first thirteen matches, had five return- ees this season. Coach Mazula also counted on some newcomers for a successful season. We have a fine nucle- us for a good season, but we don't really have any one outstanding player on the team. They ail need to play weH in order to win the dose meets.'' commented Mazula at the beginning of the sea- son. Women's Basketball The University of Northern Iowa's women's basketball team played twenty-eight games and ended the season with a 17-11 record. Al- though it was not the best season for the Panthers, the team did man- age to chalk up some impressive marks. Head Coach J.D. Anderson will hove to do some heavy recruiting for next year's team for the Pan- thers are losing five seniors, four of which are starters. Those seniors graduating are Deb Drenth. Carol Hogan. Lisa Geske. Betty Davis and Becky Grady. With that in mind, I am confident of a better season this spring, stated Head Coach Pete Mazula at the start of the season. He feels that many of the players have matured a great deal from the faS season. Mazda said the team should show an equal balance from the number one to seven positions.
