The 1982-1983 academic year will mark the department’s 75th anni- versary. Numerous special activities arc planned. The UNI Gallery of Art hosts a vari- ety of art exhibits from all over the nation. The Docents, a volunteer group, regularly offers tours of the gallery. UNI’s art department is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design, which is the accredi- tation agency for colleges and universi- ties in the nation. Academics

College Of Humanities And Fine Arts Currently the college is involved in cooperative programs with the School of Business and it is investigating the possibil- ity of further cooperation. There is now in existence the Busi- ness Communication minor jointly offered by Communication and Theatre Arts and English Language and Literature. In planning stages arc a five-year program leading to a Masters of Business Administration with a four-year undergraduate major in the Humanities or Arts. Consideration is also being given to an Arts Management major and a Music Merchandis- ing major. The College of Humanities and Fine Arts includes the aca- demic departments of Art. Communicative Disorders. English Language and Literature, Modern Languages, the School of Music, and Communication and Theatre Arts. Also included is Broadcasting Services which contains two non-commercial FM radio stations. These are KHKE, a fine-arts station, and KUN1, a general audience station of wider coverage. Beware of Still Waters, a production from the University of Nebraska. Lincoln, was one of four award winning productions seen during the Theatre UNI hosting of the American College Theatre Festival. Presently discussion is underway in con- sidering their division into separate de- partments. There is good support for the proposal. There exists a wide variety of careers in the disciplines. Theater, public address, public relations, law and politics, teaching, and radio and television broadcasting name only a few. Two majors arc available in leading to a Bachelor’s of Arts degree, along with sev- eral minors. Emphasis is placed on theater, public relations, or radio and television.
