AS A MEMORIAL ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ . . . to the former students who gave their lives to make this year and the future years secure for education in the American way. the honor roll containing their names is here reproduced. 2157 former Teachers College students went to war and 2091 of these men came home to continue their studies or some other peaceful pursuit. Teachers should not forget these men or the value of their sacrifices on the battle fields, on the oceans or in the skies. Why these men gave their lives and the heroism of their deeds should be taught without gla- mour. The need for preparation and vigil- ance should be taught as the means to an end. to be powerful enough to discourage any foreign country from ever starting an- other war. The horrors of war can not be made too real to duly impress the minds of those who have never experienced them. If our teach- ings are successful we need have no fear of danger from without or from within. ★ ★ ★ ★ ★ ★
