', c I K iz An academic year, by itself, can have just so much life. There are incessant deadlines and other schol- arly and scholastic trivia. The incidents and more mean- ingful events which make one year different from another are usually left to the administrators, faculty and students. But this year one of the more important events involved the Texas voters. With the passage of a constitutional amendment which doubled the ad valorem tax alloca- tion to 12 state universities and extended coverage to five additional schools expansion became more sys- tematic. The fiscal advantages of the bill were equaled by hopes for academic betterment. The university could begin to see the challenge being met and began to push onward.
