Bustling Summer Summer floated into the uni- versity with a bubble of activity that gradually expanded until it burst with the largest graduating class in North Texas' 73-year history: 797 students received de- grees, bringing the number of 1963 graduates to 1,844. . . . across the m n Indian Sum- mercampusas shirt-sleeved L students tried ea with difficulty to remember ' classes and Sguffled h...,.W..1..1. wasn't an easy job, too often extracurricular activities looked more inviting than schoolwork. It's always like that in the fall at North Texas. The weather is stimulating and pleasant, usually until the middle of December. Many trees insist that their leaves remain on their limbs through the first month or two of winter. Very heavy clothing is hardly needed until after the Christmas holidays. So the mild fall weather doesn't hinder North Texans when they register for classes, participate in Greek activities, make a run to Dallas or Fort Worth, elect officers or celebrate Homecoming. And there are enough short cold spells-and rough professors-to force students to study seriously. Even though the autumn weather seldom varies from one year to the next, each fall semester's activities and events are distinctly different from the last, if only in intangible ways. The fall semester of 1963 is a good example.
