The time spent in Denton was soon to be filled with varied activities . . . the world pre- miere by the Opera Workshop of The Outcasts of Poker Flat . . . major campus renovation . . . keeping up with the prog- ress of Cindy Thomas,- North Texas' entry in the Miss Texas contest . . . scheduling of the Sabin oral polio vaccine inoculation . . . summer graduation for more than 700 seniors. Fun in the Sun soon became the slo- gan of summer collegians. Lake Dallas and the campus swimming pool were favorite haunts of those looking for leisurely sun- baths, quick skiing trips, relaxing swims and places to practice a jack knife or half gainer. The crisp, clear mornings beckoning one to early classes in airconditioned rooms took the edge off the hot Texas days. By noon, most North Texans were through with their classes and had the afternoon free for study, work or play. With each additional event, summer uni- versity life became more fascinating. Study, fun, activities and the little bits of everyday life gradually enmeshed these collegians in an ever-broadening web. i SUMMER students found the UB a good spot to relax, drink a coke and take quick glances at notes. l
