Wheeler Presents Queen, Finalists A hut;e white rabbit, go d paper crowns, a monkey on a leash, and signs ot all sizes, shapes, and colors were all part of the campaigning that culminated in the crown- ing of Siiarlyn Smoot from Dallas as I960 Homecoming Queen. She was escorted by Donald Horton, senior class president. Miss Smoot was one of five finalists chosen from an original slate of nine candi- dates. The other four finalists included Paula Rhodes, sponsored by Lambda Chi Alpha; Carole Ann (Bunny) Ixland, Theta Chi; Carolyn Cass, West Dorm; and LaQuita Noble, Sigma Fhi Epsilon, Kappa Sigma, Delta Sigma Phi, and Pi Kappa Alpha. The queen, the duchesses, and their es- corts were driven onto the field in con- ertibles. Jack Wheeler, president of the student body, crowned Shariyn and presented her to the Homecoming crowd. ■Ji !; W ' M ' f fm J ' A RADIANT Sh.irlyn Smoot receives a bouquet of roses and a kiss from Student Body President Jack Wheeler.
