Carrico Chemistry Students who desire careers in the chemical industry are given professional training in various chemical fields by the Department ol Chemistry. Research supported by a grant from the United States Public Health Department has been con- ducted by the department this year. One of the chemistry instructors was granted a second United States patent on methods of preparing materials for anti-convulsants. The Chemistry Department is recognized by the American Chemical Society. It sponsors several departmental organizations on the campus.

Biology The Biology Department offers a curriculum to meet graduate and under- graduate needs for teaching, doing pro- fessional research, and preparing lor medical, dental, and medical teclmology training. Specialized laboratories and equipment are provided in a new build- ing for the work of the Department.
