I Ir X Q ,5' Y J K C 1 Vx Refreshed after a brief Thanksgiving respite from the doldrums of classwork. collegians returned to Denton and turned out 4.500 strong for the open- ing of the new gym. A fivesome from Aggieland spoiled the first nighters' glee as Coach Shands' roundballers went down 40-35. But this loss was soon forgotten as the gym became accustomed to see- ing the Eagles in the win column. One of the most controversial educators in the country. Dr. Clarence E. Ayers of the University of Texas. gave collegians a little hint as to his line of thought as he spoke on The Value Problem at a Fine Arts lecture. College Players gave their fall production. All My Sons . and the School of Music presented the Concert Band in a Sunday af- ternoon program of the finest in martial music. Student opinion was divided on use of the atomic bomb in present day warfare. but all were of the belief that Christmas should come more often. That was the time when formals reigned supreme. as all the fraternities and sororities tried to get their fall formals off at the same time. 'Fessor and the Aces did more than double duty during December. Campus politicians received a shock when Jesse Brown resigned as president of USNT. Veep Bill Mackey took over and herded the group for the rest of the semester. l'Vith the Merchandising Art's Nativity scene beautifying downtown Denton. collegians left the campus on December 20, not to return until the following year. .
