The stimu- lating of correct habits and developing of proper responses to situations that involve the participants will result in a more dynamic Democracy. To train in the art of co-operation and in establishing ideals that will minimize intolerance for those regulations made to benefit the majority is the ambition of the Student Council. One of the privileges of the Dean of Freshman Girls is to lead them in such a way that they will enjoy what they have to do. The dean endeavors to accomplish this through private conferences with individual students and their problems. One of the .most active is the yearly orientation program of the freshmen in order to help them become better acquainted with their new environment, with their fellow students, and with members of the faculty. Then, too, there is another Contact that the dean has in personal supervision of extra-curricular activities, in freshman clubs, and in teaching. EX-S MABEI. E. CRIDDLE Dean of Freshman Girls tudent Association Page 27 MAMIE E. SMITH Secretary of the Ex-Student Association It is the purpose of the Ex-Student Association to provide a means of contact between the college and its Exes. Toward this end an attempt is made at the campus headquarters to keep to date a geographical and his- torical file of all ex-students and graduates of the college. In 1932-1933 the publication of the Ex-Student News, quarterly journal of the Association, was temporarily suspended for financial reasons. It is hoped, however, that when this mild boom is ended, the association may have an opportunity to mean more to its members than ever before.

Though these op- portunities are few, responsibility placed en- tirely on minds unguided by experience tends to deviate from well defined principles, pre- requisite to the proper consequences. Hence, the Publications Council is made up of teachers and students, the former representing mature judgment, and the latter representing students' interests and policies. Thus, balance and harmony are achieved. W. N. MASTERS Chairman Page 29 HOGAN CURBO GLIDEWELL ARNOLD SWENSON McNmL CAMPORA SKILES
