Technicians -iii-1.1 2 THERON J. Fours Dean of Men D C311 of Women - Dean of M611 It is the policy of the office of the dean to afford every student constructive consideration rather than corrective suggestions. Harmony of function and relative co- operation are the consequences of the department inso- far as the individual student does not abuse the privi- leges afforded him. Herein is found the great hub upon which turns the social life of the student. Conventionalism and active situation come face to face and each is given the caustic test of time and demand. In this technocratic age serious problems and new ex- periences will await each one as he enters upon his chosen profession. May you meet these bravely and with a wide intelligence and a deep understanding that should belong to every teacher. The welfare of education and the children of Texas challenge your best efforts and may you ever be loyal to the royal that is yours. It has been said that there are few satisfactions so great as the realization that the work in which one has a share has ever increasing influence and usefulness. This is the true teacher's just reward. EDITH L. CLARK Dean of Women Page 26

One of the privileges of the Dean of Freshman Girls is to lead them in such a way that they will enjoy what they have to do. The dean endeavors to accomplish this through private conferences with individual students and their problems. One of the .most active is the yearly orientation program of the freshmen in order to help them become better acquainted with their new environment, with their fellow students, and with members of the faculty. Then, too, there is another Contact that the dean has in personal supervision of extra-curricular activities, in freshman clubs, and in teaching. EX-S MABEI. E. CRIDDLE Dean of Freshman Girls tudent Association Page 27 MAMIE E. SMITH Secretary of the Ex-Student Association It is the purpose of the Ex-Student Association to provide a means of contact between the college and its Exes. Toward this end an attempt is made at the campus headquarters to keep to date a geographical and his- torical file of all ex-students and graduates of the college. In 1932-1933 the publication of the Ex-Student News, quarterly journal of the Association, was temporarily suspended for financial reasons. It is hoped, however, that when this mild boom is ended, the association may have an opportunity to mean more to its members than ever before.
