Executives - 2 CORA E. STAFFORD Director Department of Art L ' Department of Art CORA ELDER STAFFORD, M. A. MARJORIE PATCHELL, M. A. RUDOLPH FUCIIS, M. A. Everything that we see is an arrangement oflines, tones, or colorsg and when these elements are used harmoniously, art is present. It is obvious that the study of art in- tensifies one's awareness of his surroundings and there- fore adds to his appreciation of the beautiful. Art also affords a means of exercising one's imagination and of expressing one's ideas with originality. These activities give pleasure and develop personality. Art is one of the most valuable Studies in the curricula of the public schools, and that it should be a pafrt of every teacher'S professional training is evident. Department of Biology BENJAMIN BEE HARRIS, Ph. D. JAMES B. MCBRYIJE, Ph. D. JESSE HARRISON LEGGETT, B. S. WINNIE JACOBS, M. A. OLA JOHNSTON, M. A. Biology is dedicating its efforts to the need of teaching the known and discovering new laws of life, so that human beings may take their places happily and gainfully in this world of events. Von Baer said, Science is, in its source, eternal, in its scope, unmeasureableg in its problems, endless, in its goal, unattainable, and biology is one of its branches. Man is a fellow-passenger upon this globe in company with countless thousands of plant and animal forms, and biology, the science of life, in co-operation with the other Sciences, instructs mankind how to behave in company with his fellow passengers, So that he may live well, laugh often, and appreciate more the world about him. B. B. HARRIS Director Department of Biology
