FOREWORD WITH no little pride — a pride born of effort if not of achievement — we, the editors of this year book, present it in the light of the present. With faint hearts we regard it in the light of tlie future, realizing full well that a decade hence today ' s handi- work will reflect upon us but small credit and little glory. Glancing backward through dust-covered volumes of this book which depict other days and other styles, we find them but cum- bersome collections of unimpressive pages and weird photographs. Meanwhile we groom this volume for a no less inglorious fate. We present, then, the record of but a single college year — a fragmentary crayon sketch, the colors of which will fade and smear and become grotesque. But if the sketch, while fresh, is worthy, we have ac- complished our purpose. We care not that the future college generations will regard our volume as a sort of curio — or that you, gentle reader, having found it in a long- forgotten corner, will some day hand it, open at a well-thumbed page, to your posterity, and point and say, smiling sheepishly the while — Tl ' .at ' s how your papa looked wiien he was young.
