INTPODUCTION. i i) 40i ' EFORE the reader has finished looking over this elev- enth volu me, he will find that it differs very mater- ially from The Hellenian that has heretofore made its yearly appearance. For the past ten years the Greek Letter Fraternities have been making an effort to pub- lish a college annual that would represent fully every phase of our university life. On account of the lack of both financial and moral support of the larger part of the students, it has been necessary to change our policy and narrow the range of our attempt. We here present to you a book which is intended to represent only the fraternities and such other matter that we saw fit. The name remains the same, but now stands rather for a fraternity hand-book of the University of North Carolina, than for the college annual which has been previously attempted. THE EDITORS.
