Q.. 1.v,nn.,........l .- 1-4 'A -'V' '-' AIA ' from the begInnIng the 73 fledgllng had major problems and the possIbIlItIes of havlng It publIshed seemed to be nothIng more than a dream a dream that could never be anythIng more than a dream never a realIty the problems grew and grew and contInued to grow throughout the year there never seemed to be any let up It would have been easy to have glven up early In the year and certaInIy such actlon could be easlly jUStIfI6d that had It not been for three people three IndIvIduals workmg seperately yet together a common Interest unlted them the Interest the 73 fledgllng dlfferent In many ways alIke In as many they were not only Interested they cared they could always fInd the sunshnne despIte the clouds they could always fInd encouragement regardless of the reasons for dIscouragement they had a lot of confldence to overcome the InconfIdIence they had faIth strong enough to enspIre they had what was needed they never gave and made sure that others dIdnt eIther they pushed they pulled and anythmg else that needed to be done and the whole tIme they kept a smIle that meant a lot and they helped to make a book from begInnIng to end a good book though not responslble for ItS contents IYS success or faIlure It couldnt have been done wIthout them these same people were not only concerned wIth the publIcatIon of the fledglIng they were concerned wIth envolved wIth many other student endeavors they never seemed to tIre from theIr envolvement at unc w and wIth the students and If they dId It never hIndered theIr work for they contInued on and on and In most endeavors as wIth the fledgllng theIr work was behInd the scenes they dId what had to be done because It needed domg never for any type of open recognItIon they dId It because they cared and because you are apprecnated thIs book lS dedlcated to you gwen kathI and pm and our smcere thanks for carIng about us the 73 fIedgIIng staff 297

there are only a few students at uncw that take time out from their academic envolvement to concern themselves with and participate in the student government association organizations various committees the promotion of school spirit , , . and other campus related activities these students are responsible for a lot . s they played a major role in dropping ol' a number of academic requirements , and they are responsible for the allo- cation of student activity funds . to provide enter- tainment . and activities ,. for the students as a whole .. they fight , , and they fight hard ,. they fight an apathic student body , l and an apathic administration . . and they do not give up - spite the barriers they continue on ,, and they do their best to increase .. and preserve l l e rights of the students ,. and they like the fledgling become martyrs for the cause . . and though they often stand alone in their fight . their work . . . and their accomplishments , . . do not go unappre- ciated by all , . 4 a job well done . l l and even though the battle is not over and by no means as yet to be won the 73 fledgling staff salutes you . . , for a fight well fought , , . de th h
