FILMS In answer to a re- quired mass meeting at which anti-Ameri- can and anti-war films were shown, Bill Bur- ckley, a UNC-G stu- dent and veteran of the Vietnam conflict, presented a program of commentary and slides The program was an effort to show both sides of the problem and was geared to give a factu- al understanding of what is happening in Vietnam. The event attracted more than four hun- dred interested stu- dents, faculty and ad- ministrators. Chancellor James S. SCOTT Friday, January the 12, Lieu- tenant Governor Robert Scott spoke to UNC-G stu- dents In Mclver Lounge in Elliott Hall, Having an- nounced his candidacy for governor on January 10, UNC-G was one of the first stops on his handshaking tour of the state. Following an introduction by YDC President, Kate Gilmore, Lieutenant Governor Scott made a short speech and then invited questions from the floor. Questions pertained to ex- governor Terry Sanford, the speaker ban controversy, the Black Power Forum and prospective educational directives for North Caro- lina James Garner and Jack Stickley, the state ' s two Republican candidates for governor have been invited for a later date bout . . . PeopleAreTalkin BLACK POWER FORUM For the first three days of November, representatives of the Black Power move- ment brought some of their leaders to campus for a series of lectures, discus- sions and panels. All of the speakers and panelists were people who are famil- iar with the concepts of the Black Power movement and with the myriad rea- sons which serve as its motivation. When asked for definitions of Black Power, the speakers gave varied answers which amount to the basic points; effective influence in soci- ety and personal dignity for black men as a people Major speakers were Dr James Brewer, professor of Afro-American History at North Carolina College in Durham, and Mr, Ho- ward Fuller, head of Com- munity Organization of the North Carolina Fund and lecturer at UNC-Ch School of Sociology,
