FOR THE PEOPLE If you should ever be walking by the Alumnae House on a Monday night and happen to peek in a certain one of the downstairs windows, you would probably see a group of girls don long black robes and then take their places around a U-shaped table. Those girls nuike up the Judicial board — perhaps better known to us as the Judy Board. It is their job to render justice to those girls who have not lived up to the rules under which they have been placed. The Judy Board is composed of five seniors, two juniors, and a faculty advisor. The President of the Student Government presides, and the Secretary of the Student Gov- ernment acts as Secretary. In each dormitory, a Hall Judicial Board is set up and is under the supervision of the Judy Boar l. The Hall Board is composed of the House President, a member of the Judy Board, and four other girls living in the dormitory. The Hall Board handles all minor cases and is responsible for the conduct within its respective hall. The Judy Board records and reviews the Hall Board cases and may act as a court of appeals for Hall Board sentences, if so desired. ■ ■a 1 . . K I Vrry. Susan Dar.l. ly Maxwtll. Ev.l. JOYCE POSSON, Treosui-cr JANE LINVILLE, yice-President JULIA ALEXANDER, Secretary 111 order to keep the stiideiits mindful of their democratic organ- ization, mass meetings were held at various times throughout the year. At check-up conference, the results of the plans made at pre- school conference were reviewed. The Student Government Association is divided into three branches — legislative, executive, and judicial. Every student is a member of this association. President Sarah Moss presides over the Judicial Board, calls mass meetings, and is invested with all execu- tive power. Jane Linville, as Vice-President of Student Government, presides at legislature and is responsible for seating in chapel. Julia Alexander, Secretary, takes the minutes of mass meetings, records Judicial Board cases, and sends out a report of all Judy Board and Hall Board cases each week. Democracy is in action at the Woman ' s College, for here we have an organization of the students, by the students, and for the students. 23
