l keer, C-A We ' ve come a long way from the confused homesick lot we were that Freshman Week four years ago; we ' ve grown up quite a bit between our year of closed study and our year of blanket permission; we ' ve learned all sorts of new things between History 101 and Coordinating Course 449. And yet, how difficult it is to realize that our time for graduation has come so soon ! The seem- ingly unattainable diploma is within our grasp — and we almost want to say, Oh, no, not yet — just one more year. But time is swift and relentless, and 1944 has arrived for the Class of ' 44. So we must be content with our memories and make way for the Seniors of ' 45 ; we must take our new maturity and new knowl- edge into a world which needs us. The impressive solemnity of receiving diplomas in all our cap-and-gown dignity will be an important one of those every- day things which have made up our life here: the post office rush, the toilsome hours in the upperclass reserve room, the periodic return of exams, bull sessions far into the night. As a class we have our memories, too — our work on the proj- ects of gardening on the lake-side and of good grooming; our singing the class song at mass meetings; our Sophomore jackets and our Senior rings; our formal dances each year; our class chair- men, Miss Burns and Miss Largent; class meetings, elections, our own May Court, our Senior Ball. It ' s not easy for us to leave all this behind and venture once more into the unknown. But, fortified by the academic and social experiences we have had here — and challenged by the problems betore us — we proudly and confidently join the ranks of Woman ' s College alumnae.
