student government association Jke =J-Jemocrati vvau — NANCY Kikby, President The most exciting part of Student Government — as far as the whole campus is concerned — is election time; the time of banners three feet high, strange parades through the dining halls, cheer- ing parties by torch-light, and frenzied mass meetings. After the shouting dies down, S. G. A. carries on in its own calm and efficient way, taking care of all matters that are not reserved in the said grant of power (see Constitution). Taking over their duties in May, in order to get the benefit of the sage advice of their predecessors, the elected officers keep things going smoothly — in their executive, legislative, and judicial functions. The Pre-School Conference in September means a reunion of the student leaders. After the thrill of seeing everyone again has been vociferously expressed, a lot of good hard work is done — plans are made for the beginning school year, through special Billie Cherry, Treasurer; Betty Styron, Secretary; Jean Dickey, Vice-Pn tident. ♦18
