Department of Education And Psychology DR. WILLIAM L. CROCKER, Department Chairman, Professor of Education, B.S., M.A., Ed.D., University of Alabama. Students who wish to prepare for teaching in the elementary or secondary schools follow particular courses of study leading to the Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, or Master of Arts degree, and upon completion are entitled to be recommended for the appropriate professional certificate issued by the Alabama State Department of Education. The offering of pro- fessional education courses leading to the Master of Arts degree is be- coming an increasingly important function of the department. Students who are not preparing to become teachers in the elementary or secondary schools may establish a minor in psychology. Students enrolled in the education program are encouraged to participate in the Student Alabama Education Association. Membership in Kappa Del- ta Pi, an honor society for students in professional education, is by invita- tion only, and is based on scholastic achievement. 13
