In the main it has been a year of solid accomplishment - in the classrooms and laboratories, in stu- dent government, and in the onward march of the whole program of the University. Among the tangible highlights have been the opening of Hokona Hall, the building of the new gym- nasium, and the completion of plans for the new Union and a residence hall for men. Less evident, but of even greater significance for the future, have been the adoption of plans for the new University College and expanded programs of research and instruction in a wide range of fields. In the years ahead, students in ever greater numbers will throng the campus. To prepare for them, plans for additional facilities are being pushed forward, and new techniques of instruction are being studied. Every effort will be made to maintain the quality of the instructional program in the face of heavy enrollment pressures. Confident that this can and will be done, we face the future with optimism. To those of you who complete your studies this year, our thanks for your many contributions to the life and work of the University, and our best wishes for all success in the years to come. Tom L.
