The purpose of the office of Dean of Men is to help students to succeed in college life. It has been found that this success involves, besides native ability, such items as personal habits, recreation, amuse- ments, initiative, definite purpose, lack of dis- tractions, and knowledge of the techniques of study. Dean Knode has always stood ready to help any student to find a way out of his per- plexities, and for his square-dealing with the men of the University, he has gained the ad- miration and respect of the whole University. DEAN KNODI fa . . Cy kjfzc glean of giQ'm'!Q7Il'lL'lI I J li.-XN CL.-XUVIC Dean Clauve was also the first full-time Dean of XVomen in the University of New Mexico. The responsibility of this position, that is the most direct means of contact between student body and faculty. is hard to estimate. Yet Dean Clauve has accomplished successfully this estab- lishing of relations. Dean Clauve is the only Dean in the University whose Alma Mater is the University of New Mexico. She, by her initiative and vigor, has done everything in her power to further the interests of her former student body, and because of these efforts, has gained great popularity upon the campus. ., . - x ' . t . slgxsi 5a?gtflyO..- . fi ' ?74?-.f-,,i1jx.f'f- 'gig 43.i.gi5FiC Xi?-.5 Twclziy-five

The College of Education is the division of the University whose function is the training of teachers, principals, supervisors, superintendents, and other educational workers. This College is the youngest upon the campus, having been es- tablished in 1928. Dr. S. P. Nanninga is the Dean of the College of Education. Dean Nan- ninga has an admirable background for his work, having had ten years experience in high school work. Dean Nanninga is very popular with the student body, and the rapid advance in enrolment in this College testifies to the fact that Dean Nanninga is making a real success DEAN NANNINGA fx CU r of his young College. axle Cfjlf'ClCj1-IUTU Cjcfzoof The Graduate School has undergone a gradual upward development throughout its history. The School finally reached its present stage of development in 1927. Dean B. F. Iflaught of the Graduate School has had a great deal ol ex- perience in college education and in 1928-Z9 was Dean of the Educational College in the Univer- sity of New Mexico. In the Graduate School the student is expected to develop initiative. power ol thought, and research in his major field. The idea that time merely spent in un- dergraduate class exercises is all that is required to earn a degree is done away with, and a high average must be maintained to be eligible for registration in this School. r D li.-XN H .-XL' til-1 T ,l . . . - ' 'K w o A 1 - . .
