GRCUNER, we assure you, is not a hyphen- ated American. He came to America in 1912 from Breslau, Germany, and lived in Toledo, Ohio, until he came to the University last year. His credits placed him in the Junior class and for the last two years has done his share at the U. N. M Th - ' ' e tiist thing Johannes aid was to organize a. German club, of which he was elected president. Gruner confines his athletic tendencies to horseback riding and shooting. He was elected captain of the U. N. M. Rifle club for '16 and '17 and has the reputation of being some shot. In th - l L ese c ays of stress ue hear of f'preparedness from every side, and let us say right here that Miss Boyd is just about the most pre- pared member of this class. Miss Boyd was enrolled in the University the last semester of last year. Before coming to the U. N, M. shc attended the University of Colo- rado, a.nd later the Teachers' College of New York. She was graduated from the Colorado Training School for Nurses in 1899, and then did post- graduate work in the Presbyterian Hospital of Chi- cago. From 1905-09 Miss Boyd was a member of the Colorado State Board of Nurse Examiners, she being a registered nurse in Colorado and Minnesota. She is the author of State Registration for Nurses, and is enrolled with the American Red Cross Nurse Service. Now Miss Boyd is adding a B. A. degree to her honors. Her thesis for graduation has been pub- lished as- a. bulletin of the University of New Mexico. , With such an efficient nurse in their midst the Hokona girls have felt perfectly safe in. developing measels or chicken-pox, for Miss Boyd is ever pre- pared to chase the germs away. 25

Certainly not our diminutive and dainty Louise. She doesn't look a day older than when she came to the Univer- sity four years ago as a care-free Freshman. Weese,' was graduated from the Department of Education in 'l-1. She was a member of the Y. W. C, A, Cabinet Of '15-'165 Choral club, ,lti-'17, Mississippi is Louise's old home, and there she is going to spend the summer having a good time, be- fore she assumes the grave responsibilities of an instructor of the young. A. in three years-one at the Brooklyn Polytechnic Insti- tute and two at the 'l'uiversity of New Mexico. Joe was horn in New York City only nineteen years ago-which makes him the baby of the class. He has been too busy doing four years' work in three to go in for athletics, but he hasn't been too husy to take a lively interest in all college activi- ties. Moreover, he is one who always sees you on the campus. He doesn 't go more than halt way, but there is always a friendly twinkle in his eye.
