Silas Ross Hall is just one of the four new structures which will be in use next year at the University of Nevada. FORWARD Many years from today one will be able to look in retrospect at the school year ' 56-51 as one of many conflicts both nationally and internationally. While students attended classes this year, the Hungarians were fighting bravely for freedom from oppression, the mid-east was in turmoil and Nassar of Egypt made his bid for power, special sessions of the United Nations general assembly had front page headlines for months, race riots were common in the South, and President Eisen- hower carried all but seven states in the presidential election. Students at the college on the hill took part in America ' s Heritage of Freedom by an active par- ticipation in the national and state elections .... many voted and many campaigned . . Looking in retrospect will bring memories of friends, classes, and fun. Many years from today, however, the every day routine will have been lost in the unconscious and only the education received will maintain an uppermost place in life. The positions attained tomorrow by University of Nevada students will range from housewife to politician. Regardless of position these alert, free, educated minds are the safeguard of America ' s HERITAGE OF FREEDOM. This heritage will be preserved by the educated, and defended by the enthusiastic patriot.
