Thompson hm very faithfully and ably carried out the duties of that ofhce. In addition to the work devolving upon the holder of such a position Dean Thompson carries a full teaching schedule as the head of the philosophy department, which leaves him a limited amount of time in which to carry on his student Work. As chairman of the student affairs committee the dean handles all the cases of student misconduct and error. He also serves on the campus calendar committee in conjunction with the dean of women for the purpose of regulating the dances and social activiiiies of the various campus groups, Upon the resignation of E. Martie as chairman of the faculty athletic committee and as faculty representative to Finance Control, Dean Thompson WSIS appointed hy Presi- dent Clark to fill these positions. The oflice of the dean is always open to students for advice and counsel on all questions and problems concerning the university men.

The successful holder of such a position as hers must he possessed of infinite tact, goo-d judgment, and a quiet but deternlined spirit. That Dean llflaek has all of these quzilities will he willingly Zlt- tested hy those who know her. The new woman student is al ways sure to find friendly help and counsel as to her place in the classrooms, in campus activities, and in the residence halls from the office of the Dean of VVon1en. In the past year special efforts have heen made hy Dean Mack, in cooperation with the Associated VVon1en Students, to make the senior girls of the various high schools through- out the state z1cq11ainted with the opportunities offered by the University and to establish friendly relations hetween active and prospective studen ts.
