'hr Hharmarrntiral Svnrivtg Here at Nebraska the College of Pharmacy is famed for the bonds of friendship which exist, not only between the students, but also between the students and their faculty. The chief factor in promoting this good fellowship is the Pharmaceutical Society. It's monthly or semi-monthly meetings are delightfully informal affairs where topics of pharmaceutical interest are discussed and where everyone feels free to join in. It fur- nishes a common ground for freshmen and seniors alike and provides a means of establishing acquaintances which otheru'i.se would be entirely lacking. In the autumn it is customary to have a feed', e.rpre.ssly for the purpose of meeting the freshmen and introducing them into the .spirit of the College. The girls, supposedly more skilled in such matters, are allowed to be head chefs, with all the boys willing servants. The phys- iology students sniff wistfully as they pass thru the halls and that may account for the fact that we often haue medics who decide to take phar- macy jirst, or for the people who change from other colleges into ours. When everyone is gathered around the long table made by joining the lab. tables, and the girls ladle out the oyster soup, what does it matter that the tablecloth is a strip of unbleached muslin designed for labora- tory use at some future time, or that the cracker jars bear a great resem- blance to frog containers? The freshmen in turn are requested to rise and give their name and home address, which they do with a profusion of blushes, while the upper-classmen compose a short rhyme about each one. For example, how could any one, however absent-minded, forget Guy Irwin Tate who was introduced as the man who ran a .sliver in his tongue while licking out his plate ? This meeting of the Pharma- ceutical Society serzves as the freshmen initiation and thereafter all are full fledged members. Every year, when we receive letters full of friendly feeling and hearty good wishes from our alumnae who are out taking part in the world's work, we realize just how much the society i.s doing in establishing friendships which last not only thru our college years but thru life.
