Betty Barnes, a local resident who has acted in several plays at WMC, was selected to participate in the Irene Rand Scholarship division of the Regional Festival of the American College Theatre at Ogden. Utah. She was one of six from the entire Rocky Mountain Region. 7fi Gta s Uenag u Tennessee Williams' The Glass Menagerie was again produced on Western’s stage for autumn entertainment. This production was in competition with several other productions throughout this region. Amanda. ex-Southern belle and deserted wife, nags her son. Tom, into inviting home a gentleman caller (Jim) for her shy. crippled daughter. Laura. After Amanda discovers that Jim is engaged, she argues with Tom. Tom leaves Amanda and Laura, who is unable to function except in the protection of her fragile world of glass, in St. Louis. It was also presented Autumn quarter with a change in cast. Vicky (Blunn) Gemmell was replaced by Mary Drabbs, and Craig Williams was replaced by Monty Hankinson. The action in this play represents the insane situation which results when a psychiatrist attempts to rid himself of an emotional attraction to a female patient through psycho-drama.
