1 qi . X 4- l J -...1-I--J In the east end of the infirmary is the Lowry Clinic, where each year hundreds of indigent children receive the benefits of dental attention. This clinic is under the supervision of a graduate hygienist and two internes who are appointed annually from the current graduating class. The funds are provided by the estate of the late Dr. Howard S. Lowry. In the west end of the infirmary is the prosthet.ics laboratory with dis- play models showing the various types and designs in artificial dentures and restorations. . Next we come to the recently .enlarged Orthodontia department where two newelectric welding machines and other equipment have been installed for handling chrome-alloy appliance materials in the correction of irregulari- ties of the teeth. Other departments on this floor for specializing are the Ceramics, Oral Surgery, Radiodontia and casting roomg On the third floor we find the science departments with fully equipped laboratories for experiments and research in Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Metallurgy, and Pathology. There are also two large lecture rooms and a large technic laboratory which is complete in every detail. On the fourth floor we find a newly built ampitheater type lecture room, Anatomy and Physiology Laboratories with sufficient cadavers and tables for dissection. Now that we have completed our little journey, I feel sure that you have been impressed by the completeness of our institution and will agree that progress is evident in every department of our college. As students we are justly proud of this fact and can best show you evidence of this growth by asking you to accompany us on an imaginary journey through the various departments of our wonderful institution. This meager description we will supplement by proof positive in the pictorial evidence which follows. After passing through the south entrance, our attention is attracted first to the administration office where Dr. Rinehart, our Dean, and his office staff ably conduct the business of the college. Opposite the office is the library, containing numerous volumes on scientific, dental, and medical litera- ture of interest to the student and practitioner alike. East of the library is the museum which contains an interesting collec- tion of specimens, and the famous Cogswell Exhibit. This exhibit shows complete procedure for operations in Oral Surgery,'beautifully illustrated by three hundred models made of wax and soap with each successive step care- fully explained. We shall now go into the sophomore laboratory. This well-lighted labora- tory is modernly equipped with gas and air lines, casting machines, electric wax eliminating furnace, new steel stools, dental engines, lathes, and other conveniences which go to make up an efficiently equipped laboratory. Proceeding on to the second floor we are immediately impressed by the size and appearance of the infirmary which extends the full length of the south front of the second floor. Neatness and order prevail here 'where each student is taught the practical side of his dental education under the super- vision' of competent and alert instructors. It is the ambition of every under- classman to become eligible for infirmary work. il' - ,f :J ,X 1, l fi ffl NX-Rial ,..,. --cm., wg -.. . - v , -aim ..,-.. . -use-fnaff-W-:m,:-games-sammy,--wvumw 4-M1 Y .. . . .vanwuhwu-,we-wwuweyn-unammvmummnmrwasa-an-essmww-fwwws-,-it-f-.,-W,,,-,,,,.
