' 'i -.ri ,f ff- x 'Q' 'ENGINEER-LAXVYER FOOTBALL GANIE i FRANK E. VV1LsoN Probably the most interesting event in the order of athletics is the so-called Engineer-Lawyer football game. True to form, however, there was only one member that was dressed to play for the laws, that was a lawyer?-the rest were Pre- meds, Arts and Science, Ags, B. and P. A.'s, and Journalists. VVhen the faces began to show up on the playing Held we were expecting to have all the schools represented in the gameg but the Fine Arts students did not seem to have any members on the distinguished list of freshmen players. Consequently we were iuiable to title the game Engineers M. U. floss varsity letter menj. One other important thing was the fact that the Engineers were criticized for delaying the game because of uniform changes before substitution. SVC that know demand that the fact be known that it was also the usual work of the lawyers to use swindling methods and obtain one of the Engineer's suits for an Aggie to wear. To go on with the game-the day was rather dark and cold. The three-piece lawyer band marched on the field, and the interested crowd began to form-. The laws wanted to see how their selection of men could play ball, so about fifty came by for a few minutes. Of course all of the Engineers that were not at work, came over to see that the lawyers did not try to buy oft? the ofhcials before or during the game. After the hall was kicked by the Engineers at 2:29M P. M., it was in a succession of goes and comes about the field until finally lVi1lie Hudson turned loose and captured a lawyer pass and started for a touchdown. All the Engineers feel that Willie would have made his name famous as a ball carrier if a lawyer had not served papers for trespassing and made him stop his proceedings to sign on the dotted line-when, oh yes, when a journalist pounced upon him 'with such violence that lVillie wanted air,- more air. It was not so long until the Engineers had scored a touchdown. Then it was that the Lawyers used the foul methods because the fair had proven unsuccessful. To m'ake a long story short, the game ended with the score in favor of the laws, but the moral victory remained in the mind and heart of every Engineer that saw the game. ' Those playing on the Engineer's team were: Buell, llfoods, Selvidge, Miefiinnis, Harley, Waldron, Cunningham, I-Iudson, Hall, Stagner, Cebe, Renner, Clare, Kaesscd, Morse, Baker, and Oehs.
