SCHOLARS HIPS AND PRIZES In accordance with the established custom, the Shamrock Staii' has decided to call the attention of the engineers to various scholarships which are awarded an- nually to the ranking students of the College of Engineering. The Dli.s'.s'0zw'i Engineers of Chicago Seholrw'.s'hip This scholarship was established by the Chicago chapter of the Missouri Engi- neering Alunini Association, to he supported by subscriptions among its members. The candidate must qualify under the following rules: CU he shall have had at least QM years previous work i11 the College of Engineering of the University of Miissourig he shall be among the iirst ten of his class in scholastic standingg he shall have participated creditably in one or more activities. I The Scholarship for thc year 1928-29 was awarded to Duis D. Bolingcr ot' St. Louis, Missouri, and amounted to 513175. H The Engineers Club Prize In June, 1928 the Engineers Club of the University of Missouri established a scholarship prize to be awarded to the two freshmen engineers who have main- tained the best record based on scholarship and general activities. The nature of the prize has 11ot as yet been determined. Eta Kappa Nu Prize The Iota chapter of the Eta Kappa Nu awards a handbook or slide rule to thc highest ranking sophomore electrical engineer. The ranking is based on sellolarship alone. The award last year was given to Richard I.. Young of St. Louis, Missouri. Pi Tau Sigma Prize The Epsilon chapter of the Pi. Tau Sigma awards :1 handbook or slide rule to the highest ranking sophomore mechanical engineer. The ranking is based on 'scholarship alone. The award last year was given to Edson P. Burch of Jefferson City, Missouri. James S. Rollins Snlmlarsliip The sum of 51450 is awarded to :1 fourth year student based on recognition of merit and character. Page 52 xfQ5 ? U ENGINEERS IN ATHLETICS This year the College of Engineering has been represented better than usual on both the Varsity and Freshmen athletic teams. Football The engineers on the Varsity Squad were Robert Armstrong, Stanley Cox, and YVilliam M. Erickson. The Freshmen who won numerals were Edward W. Holden, Henry J. Ochs, and Terry S. VVhitebread. Baslcet Ball The Engine School has no representative on the Varsity Basket Ball Team. However, Norman WVagner who is one of the outstanding players on the Freshman team will undoubtedly be holding down a varsity berth next year.
