As the University of Mississippi faces the 2 1st century and a sesquicentennial birthday there are many changes coming to- gether to carry us into the next century. Judy Wall Crump, an assistant professor of journalism, believes that the university has been economically and racially homogenized and has a reputation as an exclusive party school. She feels that Ole Miss is trying to move towards a more diverse environment. One of Chancellor Khayat ' s goals is to ensure that we are all committed to living in an enlightened professional community. The focus of college is to give students a strong foothold in an ever-changing world through a degree that guarantees knowledge and preparation. Pam Lawhead, a computer science teacher, feels that the university should ...call our students to the responsibility of life. She also hopes that the university will continue to produce well-rounded, well-educated students through creating a haven of excellence in every area. Continued on page 7.
